Why I Want to Live in Nashville, Rationale No. 86. Things like this never happen outside of Music City — things like a half-dozen brilliant country artists joining pop music’s reigning boy toys onstage. That is exactly what happened at the Jonas Brothers Sunday night concert at the Ryman. Had I been one of the fortunate 2,400 fans screaming along to their music (yes, I still love their music despite the cell-phone breakup saga), I would’ve also had the pleasure of watching Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Phil Vassar, Vince Gill and Amy Grant perform with them. Tim and Faith were there too. USA Today reports that Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas sang along on McBride’s “Independence Day,” and then McBride sang their “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” And that they did “Waitin’ on a Woman” with Brad Paisley. And that everyone got together at the end for an “American Pie” singalong. The last time I saw a JoBros concert, my teenage daughter and I reviewed it together for the Chicago Tribune. She really loved it. I kind of loved it. But this one in Nashville sounds like it would’ve been my kind of pop concert.

FROM JUST JARED JR: Up-and-coming band Honor Society popped in on their MySpace to thank all their fans and the Jonas Brothers for an outstanding 2008. (The JoBros produced Honor Society’s album and are rumored to tour together in 2009.)

Honor-ary members Jason Rosen, Michael Bruno, Alexander Noyes and Andrew Lee write, “2008 is definitely a year we will never forget. We were blessed to be able to do what we love and to share it with all of you!

“One thing we want our fans to know is that we love each and every one of you. From the handful of you that used to come and see us play at Olive’s every week, to the thousand’s of you that we’ve recently met and had the pleasure of playing for over the last month and a half. We are so grateful to all of you for giving us a chance and listening to what we have to say through our music.

“We’ve had so much fun with you guys, from releasing our EP, to hanging with you all at Six Flags, to our house-party tour, to our Knitting Factory shows you all have a very special place in our memories of this past year.
